Where have I been?

Hiya!

I hope when you're reading this you're all well. Today I wanted to chat about the reason why by blog has been incredibly quiet! So as you know I am a level 3 photography student at Norwich city college. I'm currently over half way through my FMP (Final major project) this project decides by grade for the whole course. For me to obtain my grade I had to create a blog, so I had to make a new one so if you'd like to check that out the link is below! I basically post once a week about the development of my project and I'm hoping to keep that blog alive after the project so you can see more of my photography work.

CHOCOLATE!!!!!!!!!!!

Hiya!

Today I wanted to talk about my other love... CHOCOLATE! Chocolate and I have been together for the past 17 (nearly 18!) years. Chocolate loves me and I love it so I wanted to talk about my favourite ones, so here it goes!

1.) Marvellous Creations - Jelly Popping Candy

My ultimate fave!! Dairy Milk recently made these a couple of years ago and I've been addicted to them ever since! I love the jelly bits inside the best and the popping candy is an added bonus!

2.) Hershey Cookies and Crème

My boyfriend introduced me to Hershey's when we first started going out with each other. For my 16th birthday he brought me a handmade tissue paper bouquet of flowers which hard little Hershey kisses in the buds, it was so beautiful but so yummy!! When I went to Italy, I was worried I wouldn't like much of the food, so my parents brought me loads of Hershey bars! I opened my case when I arrived and since then I was given the nickname 'Willy Wonka'.

3.) Smarties!

Ever since I was little I've loved Smarties, they're my childhood sweet. I would go to McDonalds and have a smarties McFlurry as they're the best things on earth. If not I'd have the £1 small smarties Easter egg... YUMMMMM!!!

Sorry that wasn't many but these are my absolute faves!!!

Love ya! Xxx

Strike Force update number 2!!

Hiya!

Today I'd like to let you all know how I'm getting on with fundraising for my strike force. If you don't know already, I play powerchair football which is played in advanced powerchair with people with serve physical disabilities around the world. I'm currently fundraising for a new chair called the strike force which is the best chair in the sport.

I've been fundraising since the beginning of February with help along the way with companies like Big Daddy PR, The Green Dragon Pub, Tiles Away and chairites like The Rob George Foundation. I've also had many events that have raised a lot of money.

Friday 8th April, we had a Night Of Mediumship fundraiser for my powerchair, this raised over £1,600- thank you to everyone who came along! Also The Cliff Hotel have raised over £600 by doing collections at their tribute nights which me and my family are incredibly grateful of!

I'm pleased to announce that I now have enough money to purchase the strike force - Thank you ever so much to everyone who donated and attended events.

I would like to say a massive thank you to: Big Daddy PR, The Cliff Hotel, The Green Dragon Pub in Wymondham, The Rob George Foundation, Broadland Council, Tiles Away, City College Norwich and all the independent donators who have kept themselves anonymous.

I would also like to thank Lanchester Court for having their fun days in aid of my chair appeal, Tescos Sprowston for having a raffle in aid of my chair, Bronia West & Pete Harriman for voulenteering to do the mediumship night and anyone else I have forgotten.

And of course, all the people who donated £20's, £10's, £5's and so on as it all added up to over £2,000.

If I have forgotten anyone I'm really sorry but I do really appreciate it.

The chair has been ordered so now I play a waiting game and I can't wait!

Once again, THANK YOU so much!! I really couldn't of done this without you all!

Love ya! Xxx

My favourite places in the World!

Hiya!

Today I thought it would be fun to talk about my favourite places in the World I've travelled to. I love going on holiday and think it would be fun to reminisce about my fond memories!

1.) Coimbra, Portugal.

I visited Portugal for the first time in 2012, I went here for a skills camp in powerchair football. I love the visual beauty of Coimbra as it has its contrast of old and new. I visited in October/November time and it was a little chilly. I think if I was to go in the summer it would be lovely. I stayed at the Vila Gale Coimbra, this is a very updated hotel where I would think a lot of business people stay.

2.) Florence, Italy

This time last month I was in Italy, and I loved it! However, its not very wheelchair friendly. I stayed at Plus Florence which is a student hostel. We went to several places everyday however my favourite place was the Duomo which is the picture down below. It's a cathedral hand made from marble and other substances.

3.) Sharm El Sheik, Egypt.

Sharm is a very proud and cultured place. A lot of British, Russian and Germans go here for their winter holidays. I went here for Christmas in 2013 and have to say it was the best Christmas ever! The weather was about 20-30 degrees Celsius. It was always sunny, I cant remember it raining. We stayed at the Sea Club Aqua Park which is an all inclusive resort. I'd recommend getting taxi's from your resort and going to The Hard Rock Café as it was sooooo yummy!

4.) Limerick, Ireland.

I went to Ireland in 2014 with my Boyfriend for the powerchair football euro's. This was our first holiday together and loved Ireland. I loved Ireland because it was laid back, relaxed and surprisingly warm! We stayed at the Travelodge which was a mistake- it was like a green house! Next time I think I would spend the extra money and stayed at the hotel opposite the university.

That's just some of the places I've travelled to. These are by far my favourite! If you want to see more of this kind of thing then let me know.

Love ya! Xxx

How I made Mum's birthday cake!

Hiya!

On Saturday 26th march, it was my mothers birthday. My mum always makes fab birthday cakes for me and my family, therefore this year I wanted to have a go at creating a cake for my mother. I made a chocolate gravity defying cake. If you'd like to make this cake then keep on reading because I'm going to tell you how!

Gravity Defying Cake!

You will need:

1 x cake (Pssssh!!! You thought I was going to tell you my families secret chocolate cake recipe? Think again!)
1 x plastic stick- preferably about 40-50cm's tall.
150g of melted milk chocolate
1 x piping bag
3 x boxes of chocolate fingers
9-12 pieces of cotton wool (You're probably thinking WTF! But trust me on this one OK?)
2 x bags of your choice of chocolate or candy
20g white chocolate
250g of icing (I used chocolate but you can use whatever you like)
1 x cake board
150 cm of ribbon of your choice.
1 x pair of sharp scissors
1 x offset spatula

Steps:

1.) Using the icing cover your cake. Put the majority of the icing on top but spread around the sides so your chocolate fingers have something to stick to.

2.) Put the melted milk chocolate into the piping bag and cut the tip off the bag to create a small hole. Neatly cut the corner of the candy or chocolate bag and empty the content into a bowl. By squeezing the bag paint the stick in chocolate (only do one side of the stick at a time) and put the candy or chocolate one by one on the chocolate. Leave about 5-10 cm of space at the top of the stick.

3.) Open the empty chocolate or candy bag and stuff it with the cotton wool, this will give the appearance of a full bag. Place the uncovered end of the stick into the bag, the cotton wool will support the stick, however if you'd like to secure it more cover the top of the stick in melted chocolate.

4.) Put a little blob of melted chocolate on the middle of the cake board and transfer the cake onto the board. The melted chocolate will secure the cake.

5.) With force, push the stick about 10 cm into the centre of the cake.

6.) place the chocolate fingers upright around the sides of the cake. After that put your ribbon around the cake and tie a bow. Once you've tied a bow, cut the ends of the ribbon to a reasonable size to make it look tidy.

7.) open the other bag of treats and sprinkle onto on the cake, filling in any spaces.

8.) With the remainder of melted chocolate, spread it out on a piece of baking parchment. Place in the fridge till its set and manageable. Then break into a plack size and with a piping bag with a small tip write a message or a name or anything you like!

VOLIA!!!

There you have it! If you would like to make this cake then go ahead! Send me snapchats or tweets of your cake I'd love to see it!

Love Ya! Xxx

Planning an Exhibition!

Hiya!

So today I wanted to share this with you. I am a Level 3 Photography Student at City College Norwich. We're currently planning an Exhibition on our own (no help from staff etc,). I didn't realise how hard it was to plan and make an Exhibition until we started so, here's the things to consider when planning an Exhibition!

1.) Money

How are you going to get money? Are you going to charge people to enter? Are you going to charge Exhibitors? Can you apply for grants or loans? What we decided to do was, charge everyone who wanted to Exhibit a fee of £7 each, therefore we have a sturdy base of money. Our second way was fundraising. We're planning to do a bake sale, this could generate between £10-£30. We're also planning to do a 'Great Photography Bake Off', this is where people will bring in 1 bake from home and pay to try each bake and vote, we're very competitive so this will be fun... we hope!

2.) Venue

What venue? Is it wheelchair accessible? How much is a daily/weekly/hourly rate? Do they charge for electricity? What's the footfall like? These are the things you have to think about when choosing your venue. We've been struggling to find and agree on a suitable venue. So we're still looking for a venue but we have one in mind.

3.) Name and Date

What will you name it? When could it be? How long will it be? We can't agree on a name. We wanted it to be named something funny but not to do with photography. However we have a time frame in mind.

4.) Work to Exhibit?

Do you have enough people to Exhibit? What we thought is if people put at least 2 pieces in each we'll definitely have enough. We also decided not to take commission if peoples work sell as we felt people deserved to keep the money for their hardwork.

That's what we have thought of to be the biggest things to think of when planning an exhibition.

10 hours of driving?

Hiya!

Yesterday I travelled to Middlesbrough for the WFA Cup game quarter finals. So I wanted to tell you just a bit about my day and how we did.

I left home about 7 am. As soon as we hit the road I fell asleep as usual. I was asleep for abut 95% of the drive there because I was pretty tired. We then arrived at lunch and went to the 'Flaming Grill' which cooked amazing food! We ate yummy burgers and watched the Spurs V Gunners game. After the game we made our way to the venue. We then headed to the venue and speed tested our chairs ready for the game. I started in goal but then came out where we then won 8-0, I scored 4 goals- 3 strikes and 1 penalty. After the game we set off home and had a McFlurry and blueberry muffin. As soon as my head hit my pillow I was zonked!

So we're through to the Semi Finals! However, this weekend we are in Nottingham for Nationals so wish us luck by following @Aspire_PFC on Twitter!
